I was looking for apartments for rent not so long ago and came across a scammer who was listing (obviously) fake properties.
I thought I would email him for and see how long it would take him to take to ask for money. His email was ‘manofmyword[email protected]’ after all.
Here is how the conversation panned out:

I was lucky I found your post, otherwise I probably would have been scammed, the email conversation we had was exactly the same almost word by word. But this time his email address was [email protected] and he was renting out in Sydney!
I have had the same conversation with someone named Ashley from [email protected] since yesterday and was almost going to get trapped, before I listened to my instinct and did a google search and found all these conversations above and below.

Just a different email, about an apartment of his in Sydnet CBD, he wanted 200$/week, so he wanted a one moths of rent wich is 800$ and an 800$ bond, wich makes it 1600$ cahsby western union. I knew it was a scam right away…

The last scamming are rlling right now in Sydney, NSW, Australia, same text, same messages, same amount, same requirments about the rent and the bond, even using fake unregistred Lease Agreement at the following address: 10/38 Bridge Street Sydney NSW 2000. Take care and ask her same as me about a stamped, signed and legilased document and about the layer name and authorisation number, who write the document. After these you will find out what kind of deal you are going into.

Be careful of scams like this. I think for short-term rentals, Airbnb would still be the best choice, especially with the validated reviews as such. If you guys need any help with Singapore’s rental market let me know.
I am in the accomodation business (www.workerdormitory.com) which is not for tourists but I do know about other suitable locations for tourists in Singapore.
This guys is still up to this scam!!!! Be careful people I almost got fooled by him! His email he uses now is [email protected] And the content of the email is exactly with many people above! I was also almost scammed by this man today !
Same email as above. Claims all his family is dead and won’t let you see the place unless you send the money first via money gram !!!! He hung up when I asked why he was mentioned on this rental scam !
Guys don’t fall for this scam!! Same thing happening here in Kitchener, ON. this guy is still going around. and he needs to be reported!! do whatever you can to get his details reported. Its not okay for him to keep taking advantage of people in this way. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Recently I was connected to scammers like what the other writers wrote in this blog thru room rental in Singapore. They have many similar writeups for different locations in Singapore. Now I am at second step. I expect the next mail will be for payment before releasing the keys. Been given an offer to pay advance 3months instead of usual two months n upon completion deposit will be refunded but get additional month to stay for free. How does one nab these scammers so that others will not b scammed. I know it’s difficult for police to do anything. Should report to newspapers so others will beware. I googled in our local newspaper a woman was almost similarly scammed in 2015 by the same name that I have . It’s very sad they use they are minister of God to con n deceive people. I pray for them that they will repent n stop doing what they are doing. Otherwise judgement upon them. Which I will write to them.
Thank god the “money gram” request had my instincts kick in to google the #.
Posted an ad on Kijiji for a rental in Lethbridge, exact same email & questions. Just finished my phone call with him and my intuition was firing high!
He is now at it in Canada as well!
